The Arts Society Chipstead

is the local society of The Arts Society covering not only Chipstead but also Banstead, Nork, Woodmansterne and the surrounding areas.

We are a friendly group with a membership of 320. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month (except July and August) in the Banstead Community Hall for coffee at 9.50 am followed by a lecture.

Our speakers are drawn from a directory maintained by The Arts Society and they are all experts in their own specialist field of the decorative or fine arts. In addition to our monthly meetings we organise study days, coach outings to historic houses, art galleries and places of interest associated with the arts. From to time short group holidays are arranged for trips of four or five days further afield.

Following the Government’s advice on 16th March 2020, the Chairman and committee have decided to cancel the Society meetings and lectures and outings for April, May and June.

The Young Arts Clay Modelling session on 18th April at Banstead library is cancelled.

The Syon House trip on 30th April is cancelled.

The Royal School of Needlework Curator’s tour on the 19th May is also cancelled.

It is hoped that we will run these events in due course when it is safe to do so. In the meantime, cheques and application forms will be destroyed by shredding.

The holiday to Yorkshire has been cancelled and refunds have been given.

If anyone has any queries please do contact either Diana Bowes or me, Valerie Isaacs, our telephone details are on the back of the programme card and we will be happy to try and answer your questions.

We understand that this is a very anxious and unprecedented time for us all, and we hope that the measures that we are required to undertake will keep us all safe and well.

With best wishes,

Valerie Isaacs
