The Church Recording Group is recording the fabric and the furnishings of St. Peter’s Church, Woodmansterne. A bound copy of the report will be given to the Rector and the church members, as well as copies being sent to the National Archives at Swindon, the V & A museum library, the Church Care Library and the Surrey History Centre in Woking.

The group, made up of 20 volunteers, meets in church on a monthly basis to record all the items in the church, following prescribed guidelines. It is a rewarding task especially when items of particular interest are found.  The group members are divided into small teams who take responsibility for each of the nine sections: metalwork, memorials, woodwork, stonework, textiles, paintings, etc, library, windows and miscellaneous. The members of the church have made us most welcome.  Good progress is being made with the descriptions and research.  Photos have also been taken by our volunteer photographer.
