Mosaics Workshop at Banstead Library - Saturday 18th April

Two sessions were held at Banstead Library where 12 children attended each session.  Abel Kesteven, artist, demonstrated how to make a mosaic design on a hardboard coaster.  The mosaics were from a child friendly kit which comprised pva glue and grouting.  The children chose their design and glued the mosaics onto the hardboard coaster and when dry proceeded to put grouting over to secure the design.

Some coasters were left at the Library to be displayed in a cabinet and photographs were also taken to be displayed in the Library.

All enjoyed the experience including the helpers!

The Arts Society provides children and young people with exciting opportunities to get involved in creative arts activities. Our work with young people builds a lasting enthusiasm for the arts and an awareness of arts heritage and its conservation.

Young Arts opportunities are organised by individual Societies. Some Societies have on-going Young Arts Groups while others fund one-off Young Arts Projects. Young Arts Groups are Society based. Volunteers organise arts related activities for members aged 8-18.

Young Arts Programmes might include creative workshops, work with schools, art competitions and possible gallery visits.
