The Church Recording Group recorded the fabric and the furnishings of St. Peter’s Church, Woodmansterne. A bound copy of the report will be given to the Rector and the church members, as well as copies being sent to the National Archives, the V & A museum library, the Church Care Library and the Surrey History Centre in Woking.
The group, made up of 20 volunteers, met in church on a monthly basis to record all the items in the church, following prescribed guidelines. It was a rewarding task especially when items of particular interest were found. The group members were divided into small teams who took responsibility for each of the nine sections: metalwork, memorials, woodwork, stonework, textiles, paintings, etc, library, windows and miscellaneous. The members of the church made us most welcome. Photos were also taken by our volunteer photographer.
